Let it snow

18881973_s“Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. (Isaiah 1:18)

As I sit here this morning looking at the results of the snow fall last night, I can’t help to be transported in memory to my childhood.

Who doesn’t like snow as a kid?

No school. Sleeping in. Snowball fights and snowmen.

As an adult, unless it’s a weekend we don’t usually get the excitement of no work and all play but for me there is a calming effect to the white flakes that fall from the sky. They form a blanket of stillness which brings with it peacefulness as it covers the dark and lifeless landscape that offers no joy and inspiration during this cold winter season.

Five years ago, God brought a snowfall in my life that carried in peace and new life to a dark and lifeless landscape. The seasons in my life began to change and though outside it is at times bitter and cold, He keeps a fire burning inside my heart that keeps me warm and with it brings thankfulness and praises to Him.

God can and will do the same for you if you just allow Him to work in your life. You can be cleansed of your sins turning them white as snow and He will blanket you with comfort in all your seasons, bringing with it inspiration and desires of the heart that cannot be contained.

Embrace a new weather forecast in your life and allow yourself to simmer with anticipation and excitement just like the kids who went to bed last night and before they drifted off to sleep whispered to God one last time,

“please let it snow”.
