As I sit here this morning looking at the results of the snow fall last night, I can’t help to be transported in memory to my childhood.

It is early on a Saturday morning and it is cold. The snow of the first year is beginning to fall and so are my eye lids. The morning is a peaceful time for me and I never have to rise to the day as early as I choose to but it is also my time with God. The time for a hot cup of coffee that warms up my engine and The Word that warms and brings the morning light to my soul. The tranquility allows me to focus and the void of busyness and the noise of the world outside our home is at a standstill.

Yesterday, I had a fun time with my son playing in the snow on a ‘spring’ day in Ohio. We had a typical snowball fight and then settled down to work on our own snowman creation. In the end, we created “Harold” and we stood back and admired our work before I turned into the warm house for a break. As I continued to watch my son build with snow along with his sister and friend, it hit me that our problems in life start out as snowflakes that quickly melt away but others withstand the temperature and begin to roll up into something much larger. As they rolled what was a small snowball across the yard, the ball grew in size making it a larger mass and one that will now withstand the warm temperatures for a much longer period.
