Part the waters

The Egyptians had caught up to the Israelites. Pinned against the shores and nowhere to go but into the clutches of the enemy. And yet, God told them to go there and He also told Moses that He will send Pharaoh and the Egyptians to chase after them.

In a great statement of faith, Moses speaks this scripture to the Israelites and the escape through the Red Sea unfolds.

I don’t know about you, but I have many fears and doubts that do not rank up there with this story but it would be sure nice if God would part some water for me. I get scared sometimes of the littlest of things and the feeling of anxiety causes me to falter and become paralyzed. There are those times in my life when I am questioning God and shouting “why did you bring me here”!

But God knows all and plans all. He will see us through but He may also let us reach that very point of panic. That point when we gasp for air. The point when we want to close our eyes in fear.

We don’t necessarily want to hear we could reach that point and it is hard to wrap our minds around a God that will display His glory through our difficult times but it is through our stories of facing the enemy that our faith has a chance to grow and our trust in God becomes the very weapon that will defeat the army that has us pinned.

Today, you may see soldiers on chariots chasing towards you to defeat you and you are frightened. In all of it, you maybe asking the question “why me God”? In all of it, you can’t believe this is happening. If God can deliver Moses and the Israelites from Pharaoh’s army He can deliver us today from anything that we may face big or small.

We just need to be calm and He will part the waters.
