Crossroad

Last night, Lance Farler and I had a chance to sit down with a cup of coffee at Panera Bread and throw around some thoughts on our week and what God is doing not only in our personal lives but also in our homes and community. We were all over the place in our talk but one thing was certain. No matter where our conversation started it most often lead us back to a crossroad. A place where we were both at in our walk and a place where we both had similar questions and answers.

One of our questions was why don’t we express our faith more? Aren’t we excited about what God has and is doing in our life? Shouldn’t we be telling others about Christ each and everyday? What seemed to resonate from us both was the feeling of fear. Of not knowing what to say if we brought God up and were asked ‘that’ question. Or not being educated enough in The Word to hold the conversation and keep it aimed at our Creator. A fear that would prevent us from walking across the crumbs of a bagel on the floor and proceed to talk to someone at the table next to us. We can sit at our table together and smile and laugh and brag about what our Savior has done but we often act as though we are the leading characters in the movie, Honey. I Shrunk My Faith.

But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return. – 2 Timothy 1:12

We both agreed that ‘in whom we trust’ is at times all we need to say and our lives are entrusted to Him. We often spend so much time worrying about what we may never be able to explain that we miss the conversations all together. We miss opportunities to speak more about our testimony because we fear the scripture. To tell others just what God has done for us personally and what grace he has extended no matter how broken we are.

Last night, at the crossroads, the coffee was good and the time spent was priceless. There was only one reason that Lance and I ended at the same place at the same time throughout our talk and that is that the Holy Spirit lives within us. To guide us and to keep us talking and questioning our direction. It is what moves our heart, keeps us accountable, and will transform our lives.
