That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
2 Corinthians 4:16
Have you ever felt like dying? Literally. Often we do when we get ourselves into an embarrassing situation or we finally have to face a difficult situation. But have you ever felt like dying for God? To pick up your cross and follow Jesus. It has a much happier ending than the situations that I previously mentioned and it is something that must continue to happen. Unlike examples that you can face one time and then hopefully move on never having to face it again.
Dying to yourself is not a one time occurrence. It takes commitment and perseverance and it can be the most challenging thing that you will ever do. There can be no real relationship with Jesus until we do this. He commands it and until then we make the decision we will always come up with a reason to place ourselves before Him and live for ‘me’.
As Cole turns to Malcom in the movie The Sixth Sense and says “I see dead people” it makes me ask. Would he see you?
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
