Instant Gratification

We are people being groomed more and more these days by instant gratification. Maybe I speak of only myself, but we are getting less dependent on what is most important and more focused on what brings us pleasure right away. Like now! Ok, got a little carried away there but the new year is just around the corner and what does that mean? That means all the hype of the holidays, eating that great tasting food, and opening those gifts are over. It’s time to get back to life and oh yeah, do we have to buckle down on the resolutions that we made? The instant gratification is over and we now search for that app that will just take care of the resolution for us so we don’t have to apply some effort. We often lose sight of what a little hard work, determination, and patience will yield us; gratification that is long lasting. There is also another instant and long lasting gratification that is often overlooked or not taken seriously enough. The love the Jesus has for you. Ephesians 5:2 says, “He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us”. What more do we need? This is instant gratification that makes anything pale to compare. This is a love for all to be rewarded by and when the app doesn’t exist, we don’t have a wi-fi connection, and it’s not on sale yet one thing is for sure… Jesus loves you.
