Perfect Intervals – Lesson #3

Can anything be perfect? Well, in the realm of music we all try to be but one thing is for sure… intervals are. Intervals that don’t have major or minor states are called perfect intervals. The deal with these is you cannot raise them to make them major or lower them to make them minor.

These intervals are:

  Fourths

  Fifths

  Octaves

In summary, you cannot have a minor fifth or a major octave. This is a brief lesson and the content will make more sense in future lesson plans and next week we will cover augmented and diminished intervals.
